Did you know that a gallbladder or an appendix can be removed with a single incision hidden in the belly button?
As part of our mission to remain on the forefront of cutting edge surgical care, Alpine Surgical is excited to incorporate Single Incision Laparoscopic Surgery (SILS™) into our armamentarium of procedures. This innovative technique is ideal for routine gallbladder and appendix removal. We offer this service as a complement to traditional multiple incision laparoscopy; thus, elevating the current gold standard for laparoscopic cases performed today. In select patients, the technique can be extended to minimally invasive colon resection, anti-reflux procedures (Nissen Fundoplication), splenectomy and adrenalectomy.
Single Incision Laparoscopic Surgery (SILS™) represents the latest advance in minimal access surgery since the first laparoscopic cholecystectomy was performed in 1985. Currently, more than 80% of all cholecystectomies performed in the United States are performed laparoscopically utilizing multiple small access sites. Single Incision Laparoscopic Surgery (SILS™) offers the advantage of utilizing a single 2cm incision within the navel. This reduces visible scarring and reduces the potential for wound pain that can accompany additional entry sites. SILS can result in quicker recovery, better cosmesis and overall improved patient satisfaction.
