Location: Alpine Surgical – Boulder, CO

Job Type: Full-Time | Non-Exempt

Position Summary

Alpine Surgical is seeking a professional and patient-focused Certified Medical Assistant to support our experienced general and vascular surgeons. The ideal candidate will be dependable, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced surgical setting. Prior experience in general surgery is strongly preferred.

Key Responsibilities

  • Greet and room patients, obtain vital signs, and document medical histories
  • Prepare procedure rooms and assist providers with minor surgical procedures
  • Coordinate pre-op and post-op patient instructions and follow-up
  • Handle prior authorizations and surgical scheduling as needed
  • Maintain clinical supply inventory and ensure exam room readiness
  • Accurately document in the electronic health record system (Athenahealth preferred)
  • Support front office functions when needed (phones, messages, patient check-in)
  • Communicate clearly with patients, providers, and staff, including in both English and Spanish if bilingual

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Current certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA, RMA, or equivalent)
  • BLS/CPR certification required
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience as a medical assistant; general surgery experience preferred
  • Experience with electronic medical records; Athenahealth experience preferred
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to multitask

Work Schedule

  • Full-time, 4-10hr shifts
  • No weekends, holidays, or on-call required
