Akin Beckley MD, PhD, FACS is a Board-Certified General Surgeon with over 20 years experience. He previously served as an assistant professor at the University of New Mexico. Dr. Beckley has extensive training in all aspects of general surgery, including the latest in procedures for gastrointestinal surgery, hernia repair, breast disease, and venous disease.  When possible, Dr. Beckley prefers minimally invasive techniques to all of his surgeries.

Dr. Beckley is committed to excellent patient care. He takes pride in his ability to put patients at ease and to help them understand their needs and options. He believes that continual learning and technical expertise are essential in providing the best overall care for his patients. Dr. Beckley received his board certification from the American Board of Surgery in 2006 and is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons.  Dr. Beckley received his Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry with honors, followed by his Medical Degree from the University of Connecticut in 1994. He then completed a postgraduate PhD in Biomedical Science from the University of Connecticut prior to starting his surgical career. Dr. Beckley’s specialty certifications include:
