Treatment for Melanoma, Sarcoma, and Benign Growths

Melanoma

One type of skin cancer that begins in the melanocytes is melanoma. The cells that produce the pigment that gives skin its color are called melanocytes, and we refer to the pigment as melanin.

Melanoma usually first appears on skin frequently exposed to the sun, including the arms, back, face, and legs. It can also develop in the eyes and, in rare cases, inside the body, like in the throat or nose.

It’s unclear what causes explicitly all melanomas. However, the majority of melanomas are brought on by UV radiation exposure. People under 40, particularly women, also appear to be at an increased risk of developing melanoma.

Sarcoma

A wide range of cancers that begin in the soft tissues and bones are referred to as sarcomas. Our body structures are surrounded, supported, and connected by soft tissues. Skin, muscle, fat, blood vessels, nerves, tendons, and joint lining are examples of soft tissues. Soft tissue sarcoma is a type of cancer that begins in the soft tissue.

Some of the common signs of soft tissue sarcoma include lumps in the skin, bone pain, belly pain, and weight loss. This type of cancer begins with the growth of cells in the soft tissues and bones. The cancer cells may develop into or spread to other body parts. Metastatic cancer is the term used to describe cancer that spreads.

Benign Growths

Benign growth or tumors don’t cause cancer. They are a group of abnormal cells that proliferate excessively and do not perish, in contrast to normal cells. As the abnormal cells proliferate, tumors are created.

You might not notice any symptoms from a benign growth. Rarely do they result in major health problems. However, if a benign tumor is pressing on neighboring tissue or organs, your doctor might advise surgery to remove it.
